Apple Pie – Truly American

Apple PieOne of the most famous saying in the United States is “As American as Apple pie”. The meaning of this statement is “classically American”. Even the American soldiers during the World War II made a famous statement which said, “For mom and for apple pie”, whenever they were asked why they went to war. So you must have put the jigsaw pieces together and taken the cue that apple pie is a famous American dish.

Apple pie is a fruit pie in which the principal filling is apples. The pie has two crusts, the upper crust and the lower crust. The upper crust is generally a lattice shaped into crossing strips. However, there are other varieties with one or no crust.

Apple pie is a festive dessert which is generally served after dinner. It is what brings the entire family together after a good Thanksgiving meal. Many people also make apple pie on the night of the fourth of July. Basically, apple pie is universally loved because of two reasons. The first reason is its crust which consists of butter and shortening. It makes the crust crispy and flaky. The second reason would be the filling. Cinnamon coating, sweet vinegar and melt- in- the mouth apple along scoop of fresh vanilla ice-cream and a salty crust is something that is definitely worth having again and again.
