Mexican cuisine- the low calorie basics

Mexican CuisineMexican food; as the name implies, originated in Mexico is an ideal food for chubby people like me. Besides from being tasty it is hale and hearty and so, in precise words it is the food with spice and health fused well. The fats and cholesterol content is quite low in most of the authentic dishes and on contrary they help instilling essential nutrients, carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins in our body. Also it doesn’t matter that we choose vegetarian dish or non-vegetarian because any authentic Mexican meal prepared in a traditional Mexican way will avail you loose some pounds and thus become slender. However, don’t forget that adding extra cheese, sour cream, guacamole or any other calorific toppings to the same can radically change dietary values remarkably.

Here, I am stipulating some essentials of Mexican cuisine that will make you encounter with the items, you would rather prefer to consume (if you are really willing to shed your pounds) and thus have a check on your figure, of course avoiding the needless food items.

Frijoles (beans)
Beans are the staples of Mexican cuisine and are components of various Mexican dishes as well as are used for garnishing. They are enriched with good source of protein. They are healthier when consumed boiled and not fried or refried.

Tortillas
Tortillas are often served as Mexican entrées and also are used in typical Mexican dishes in various ways. They are grilled for preparing Quesadillas, fried for making Tacos or rolled and baked for preparing Enchiladas. So, the tortilla chips which are fried and full of fats should be avoided and instead baked, grilled and soft tortilla items should be preferred.

Salsa
Salsa is a low fat Mexican sauce usually allied with mixture of tomatoes, onions, chili and cilantro (coriander) served as a savor or a dip. It is rich in vitamins and antioxidants. If needed crown it with sour cream and guacamole but it will be beneficial if you avoid it or use it sparingly.

So, for the Mexican food to be proved figure-friendly for you have delicious but nutritious meals and say no to crispy, fried, refried beans, cheesy Mexican items like tacos, chimichangas or toppings and go for the low-calorie dishes like Gazpacho, chili, black bean soup, fajitas, etc with a salsa dip. So, you can be healthy and robust without missing your favorite flavors. Enjoy!
